I was super excited for today’s session. Seeing the others students work on Instagram really hyped me up. I love illustrating. It is just very fun and a nice additional step to the design process with endless possibilities. Do I like the illustrations I make? No, not really but I still enjoy the process. I often feel like my illustrations aren’t conceptual enough and too pretty and subsequently pretty boring. I’m trying to become more experimental and I’m improving but still not where I would like to be.
In the session after feeling very dizzy and getting a granola bar (thanks Carlyn for letting me go to the cafeteria) I got started with collaging. Now, surprise, surprise as it seems to be tradition for me I take way way way too long to do the collage. I don’t know what it is about collaging but I am just so slow at it. I don’t think I am bad at it and I like doing it and I am satisfied with my final outcomes but the process of getting there is long. I’ll try to work on that in the future. Not sure how to improve it other than just do more collaging and hopefully get more intuitive about it.
I want to try some more things at home if I have some time left before submission.
In addition I was super happy to see some of my work get posted on the IISF Instagram. Now I can cross that off my list. I managed to get a straight A assessment, got some of my work posted on the IISF Instagram, so now the only one I still need to crack to feel accomplished is Giles Instagram. Wish me luck.
