I had a lot of fun in todays session. It was a challenging but rewarding exercise. I realised I don’t sketch/life sketch enough, which is partially due to a lack of free time at the moment but I’m sure I could squeeze it in here in there if I tried harder.
I don’t know if I’m necessarily happy with the results in terms of how good they look but I am happy about the process of making them and I think I did ok. I would like to repeat the exercise at home where I have access to every art supply I own. I’m interested to see how the result changes when I use a medium I am very familiar with (alcohol markers). I also want to try watercolour and ink and maybe acrylic, which I am honestly not good at but feel like could lead to an interesting colour study. I would also like to see what I could do with maybe 45-60 minutes of time instead of 15-30 minutes.
I think my favourite drawing I made was the one of my own shoes. I normally don’t really enjoy working with oil pastels but I think they are a very suitable medium for a 15 minute colour study, because they cover a large surface area quickly and mix well. Overall a successful day in my opinion.
